I've posted the details of my Technician (and other license classes) class to be taught in January in all the local newspapers and the ClamDigger for some weeks now. So far there seems to be little interest in such a class. I sent it off to the ARRL long ago but don't know if they ever posted it. The ARRL is not very communicative for a communication organization. I have just three individuals who have expressed interest in the class so far and I need a minimum of fifteen to make the class worth running.

I have secured the Anacortes Yacht Club as a venue for the 2012 Ham Radio Class. The class is focused on the Technician Class of license, but those who wish to either upgrade to a higher class or sit for more than one exam during the exam session are accommodated with individual help, weekly quizzes and the proper textbook. The basic class covers way more than is needed for the Technician Class license. I hope that most students will find the technical content of the course material interesting and challenging. There will be homework.

I thought the presentation at the last RASC meeting was really good and informative.  I learned a few things about the product line I did not know and confirmed a few that I either knew or suspected.  I think the radios are nice pieces of equipment but I also think that they are not an especially good value.  Even the QST review pointed out that one was going to spend well over $4,000 for a properly configured radio, one that I might add that could be essentially duplicated from one of the big three manufacturers for around $1500.  The on-line reviews tend to be quite po

As some of you may know I have agreed to succeed Al Liske, KA7Z, in teaching amateur radio classes in the immediate area. I'm planning to instruct a class beginning in January 2011 and I hope to obtain the Anacortes Yacht Club facility as a venue once more unless there is a preference for another available facility. I'm a member of the Yacht Club and that should help to make it possible if the needed dates are available.
